Leftover, unused, and expired prescription medications inside our homes are highly susceptible to misuse, theft and abuse. To help with this growing issue, the Peoria Police Department is offering our community a safe and responsible way to dispose of these prescription drugs.
Inside the lobby of both Police precincts, community members will find a marked green box that will allow them to drop off their potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription drugs anonymously. Many types of drugs can be disposed of using the boxes, however items such as needles, liquids, or aerosols -like inhalers are not accepted. The items placed in the drug boxes will be collected on a routine basis by officers and will be destroyed properly.
The boxes are available to use any time during normal lobby hours.
