Since 1995, the Peoria Police Department has been the proud home Explorer Post #2999. The Explorer Program is for teens 14-20 years old that are interested in a career in law enforcement. This program offers an opportunity to learn about law enforcement in hands-on scenario based training that will allow Explorers to see if a career is this field is right for them.
As part of the program, Explorers commit to meeting at the police department for three hours twice a month for training and events. Training will consist of not only hands on learning, but also physical training which is a large part of law enforcement. Explorers are also required to participate in community service events. The goal is to have every member serve 100 hours per year.
Ultimately, the Explorer Advisor staff is committed to ensuring the youth in the program leave as ethical, well educated citizens, and ready to face any challenge regardless of their career choice.
