Current planning activities of the division include the review and coordination of zoning cases, subdivision plats, site plans, the administration of design review requirements, variance requests, use permits, sign permits, zoning ordinance amendments, and petitions for annexation.
Long-range planning activities of the division include the administration, maintenance and amendment process to the city’s General Plan, preparation of various long-range planning reports and studies and project management of long-range planning related consulting projects.

Credit Card Service Fees
Beginning July 1, 2017, all credit card transactions related to planning applications submissions will be subject to a nonrefundable service fee of 2.25 percent. This service fee, approved by the Peoria City Council on Sept. 6, 2016, is intended to cover the city’s costs of offering credit cards as a payment option to its customers.
The service fee will take effect the same day the city goes live with a new online payment system for development services. Customers will continue to have several no-cost options for paying development-related fees, including a new e-check option that will be available online. About the Planning and Zoning Division
The Planning Division of the Planning and Community Development Department is composed of dedicated employees who are responsible for the development and implementation of the city’s current and long range development standards and policies. The Planning Division serves as advisory staff to the citizens who make up the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Board of Adjustment, the Design Review Board and the various city hearing officer positions.
