The City of Peoria is currently updating its General Plan, which sets the community's vision for the next 10 to 20 years and beyond.

This comprehensive document guides all aspects of the city such as growth, redevelopment, economic development, city services, parks and open space, health and safety, public facilities, the natural environment and more. The public is invited to help shape Peoria’s future and be part of the General Plan Update.

Sign Code Modernization Project
Latest News: On September 19th, a Study Session was held with City Council to discuss and receive feedback from the City Council regarding the latest draft of the proposed code.  A similar Study Session was held with the Planning and Zoning Commission on September 7, 2017.  Agendas and recordings are available for Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council Meetings.

Based on Feedback received at these meetings, staff will continue to work with stakeholders to refine the draft. Further public meetings with the Planning and Zoning Commission and City Council will be scheduled once a revised code has been drafted.

About the Planning and Community Development Department

The Planning and Community Development Department is responsible for establishing short and long-range development standards, Housing Services, Peoria Support, the Neighborhood Pride Program, implementation and administration of city zoning, planning, and development policies. The Department also provides staff support for the City Council, Planning and Zoning Commission, Board of Adjustments, Design Review Board, and the Historic Preservation Commission.
