Honor. It is something that is given and something that is earned. The city of Peoria would like to request your help to honor the men and women who have served this country. The John McCain Vietnam Memorial Plaza at Rio Vista Park was built to show our respect and appreciation for those who fought, and those who died, in Vietnam. The Plaza features a Huey Helicopter that was in service in Vietnam. It also bears the name of Senator John McCain, an American hero who recently passed.
In its current form, the Vietnam Memorial Plaza does not offer enough space for quiet reflection. Based on resident feedback, this is a feature we have chosen to modify. We want visitors to be able to spend time with the memorial in a tranquil setting. To achieve this, Peoria plans to add features to the Plaza, including more landscaping and improved seating.
The city needs your help to help make this a reality. Our goal is to raise $80,000 for the additions to the memorial plaza. We understand charitable spending is limited, and would like to recognize your support on our city Webpage and promotional materials created for the Memorial Plaza.
The Memorial Plaza expansion project is a partnership between the city of Peoria and Play Peoria a registered 501(c)(3). Donations in support of this project may be tax deductible.
Thank you for your consideration on this important project.
