Residents of Peoria, Arizona are eagerly anticipating the completion of Peoria's third community park, Paloma Community Park. Similar to Rio Vista and Pioneer, the new park will provide a broad range of active and passive recreational activities to the entire community. At 85 acres in size, the new park will accommodate large numbers of people and will draw residents from throughout the community to enjoy its many facilities.
2014 - Citizen interest and demand for a new community park north of Bell Road was affirmed through the Community Services Master Plan adopted by Mayor and Council.
2015 - Initial funding for the park began with a $500,000 Multi-Year CIP Budget.
2015 - The park study began in the Spring of 2015 and was completed in the Summer of 2016.
2017 - Solicitation for Design Build Services attracted a qualified technical and landscape construction team.
2017 - Name Our Park contest was launched via social media, web, and print communications.
2017 - The phase one park design and construction drawings began in the Spring.
2018 - City Council approves final name as Paloma Community Park during a public meeting on June 5, 2018 Read Press Release (PDF) and awards the construction contract.
Fall 2018 - Construction on Phase I of the park is expected to begin.
Spring 2020 - Projected opening date of Phase I.
Paloma Community Park is an 85 acre park currently under construction in north Peoria, Arizona. The park will be built in two phases. Phase One will include the following amenities:
- Lighted Ball Field Complex
- Lighted Multi-Purpose Fields
- Lighted Pickleball Courts (4)
- Open Turf
- Fishing Lake
- Fishing Deck / Stage Area / Event Lawn
- Splash Pad with inclusive-designed Playground
- Picnic Ramadas
- Lighted Dog Park
- Concessions Building (2)
- Overlook Plaza
- Multiple Restroom Buildings and Parking Areas
Phase One is set to begin construction in Fall 2018 with a target completion date of Spring 2020.
Phase Two is planned to include the following types of amenities:
- Wheeled Trail/Plaza (skate/rollerblade court)
- Additional Lighted Ball Field Complex
- Walking Trail
- Equestrian Trailhead
- Interpretive Trails
- Multi-Purpose Fields
- Drone Zone
- Additional Parking Areas and Restrooms
NOTE: Phase Two amenities are subject to change.
The approximate size of the park will be 120 acres when both phases are completed.
