|Parks and Trails
Plans and maintains city parks, most right of ways, trails, open space and most retention basins. It also designs and develops the Department’s Capital Improvement Plan, performs plan reviews for new planned area developments and oversees graffiti removal throughout the City.
Wide variety of programs, activities and classes for children, teens, adults, seniors and people with disabilities including aquatics programs, sports, outdoor recreation and special interest classes offered at city-run facilities throughout Peoria.
In a 2013 survey of randomly-selected Peoria residents, most experienced a good quality of life and believed the city was a good place to live; almost all reported they plan on staying in the city for the next five years. On average, residents gave favorable ratings to almost all of Peoria’s services.
It is the mission of the Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities Department to meet the needs of the citizens of Peoria by developing, implementing and maintaining quality programs, services, events and facilities which are cost effective, creative and responsive to citizen input.
