The City of Peoria's Teen Program offers a variety of activities and events for teenagers and young adults. We specialize in things to do for teenagers and creating activities that are engaging for teens and their friends, as well as the opportunity to meet new people. Our programming includes dances, college campus tours, and special events at the Rio Vista Recreation Center. If it's happening for teens, it's on this page! Step Out - Summer Recreation Program for Teens

Step Out is a great program for young teens looking for something to do during the summer. This exciting program features arts & crafts, group games and on-site tournaments. Optional off-site field trips will be offered throughout the week at an additional cost. Trip information is available below.

ALL children entering grades 6th-9th (ages 10-15 years old)
Dates: June 3– July 11, 2019 (Closed July 4th, 2019)
Times: Monday – Thursday, 8 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

How To Register
Parents who wish to enroll their child in the Step Out Summer Rec Program must register online. Registration cannot be done at the school sites and in-person payments are not accepted. Parents must register online using the link below. Registration must be done by 5:00am the day of to attend the program or any field trips. Register online for Step Out

Teen Activities at the Community Center

Fitness/Dance Room (for youth and family)
We welcome fitness buffs and dancers alike to enjoy the Fitness Room at the Community Center. Dancers may schedule the use of the room in 45 minute blocks between the hours of 1:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Saturdays. Use of the Fitness Room is for practice that does not involve any paid instruction classes.

Fitness Room and equipment is available to ages 16+ with signed fitness waiver. Call 623-773-7436 for public availability. There can be no paid instruction of any kind.

Peoria Youth Advisory Board

Make a difference in your community, make new friends, learn leadership skills, and get involved! If you are currently in grades 7th-11th and a City of Peoria resident, you are eligible to join. The Youth Advisory Board consists of nineteen local youth who advise the City Council, through the City Manager, on recreation programs, events, ordinances and proposals pertaining to youth within our community. Representatives are appointed by City Council, from all areas of the City, from local, charter, and private schools. For more information, contact the City Clerk’s office at (623) 773-7340.

Genesis Youth Center

Inside the Peoria Community Center, 8335 W. Jefferson St.
Youth ages 14-21 can receive employment and educational services such as resume writing, interviewing skills, career exploration, federal student aid assistance, financial literacy, understanding job applications, job seeking, life skills workshops and soft skill workshops at the center. The Genesis Youth Center is a collaboration between the Maricopa County Human Services, Workforce Development Division and the City of Peoria and is funded by the Workforce Investment Act.
