Three great events celebrating Earth Day 2019

April 12, 2019 - Turf Reduction at Peoria City Hall

The City of Peoria will be reducing the amount of turf on City Hall campus outside of the Council Chambers building. Students from Peoria High School will be removing turf and planting two trees as well as student-grown plants. Join us from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. for this event.

April 13, 2019 - River Trail & Clean Up

7:00 a.m., meet at 15000 N. 83rd Ave (vacant parcel across from Skunk Creek trailhead)
Get your group together or come alone to pick up trash and debris along the Skunk Creek trail system. Pre-registered volunteers need to check in by 7:00 a.m. Onsite registration and check in starts at 6:30 a.m. To volunteer for the event, please complete the online form or contact Tonia Edmundson at the number listed below.

Tennis shoes or closed-toed shoes are required. Also dress in layers, bring gloves and wear sunscreen. Water and garbage bags will be provided.


April 14, 2019 - Educate, Rejuvenate, and Hydrate

Join us from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. for this public outreach event located at Westwing Park at 27100 N Westwing Parkway. Get your group together or come on your own to help us close unauthorized shortcut trails (Wildcat). City staff will be there to discuss safety and impacts to the environment by going off trail. Closed toe shoes are required and hiking boots are preferred. Be sun smart and remember to bring your hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Tools and water will be provided. Register for this event online.
