Consumer fireworks for the upcoming holiday can now be purchased from May 20, 2019 until July 6, 2019. Permissible consumer fireworks can then be used from June 24, 2019 through July 6, 2019, however there are several limitations on where fireworks can be used within the City of Peoria.

Fireworks cannot be used on city property, including parks, city streets and city sidewalks. They also cannot be used on state land or on school property, unless a permit has been issued.

It is also important to remember there are many fire safety concerns involving fireworks including: extreme danger of fire due to dry weather conditions; possibility of fires spreading from yard to house or across open areas and causing major damage to undeveloped areas. Nationally, more than $36 million in property is damaged is caused each year due to fireworks.

Rather than using fireworks at home, residents are encouraged to enjoy the firework show at the All-American Festival at the Peoria Sports Complex on July 4, 2019 from 5:00-10:00 p.m. For more information, visit
