Consumer fireworks for the Fourth of July can be purchased from May 20 until July 6. Permissible consumer fireworks can then be used from June 24 through July 6.

Consumer fireworks for the New Year's holiday can be purchased from December 10 until January 3. Permissible consumer fireworks can then be used from December 24 through January 3.

There are several limitations on where fireworks can be used within the City of Peoria. Click here to view City Code, Chapter 9 - Fire Prevention and Protection, section 9-46 through 9-53 for fireworks limitations.

Fireworks cannot be used on city property, including parks, city streets and city sidewalks. They also cannot be used on state land or on school property, unless a permit has been issued.

It is also important to remember there are many fire safety concerns involving fireworks including: extreme danger of fire due to dry weather conditions; possibility of fires spreading from yard to house or across open areas and causing major damage to undeveloped areas. Nationally, more than $36 million in property damage is caused by fireworks annually.
