There are several limitations on where fireworks can be used within the City of Peoria. Click here to view City Code, Chapter 9 - Fire Prevention and Protection, section 9-46 through 9-53 for fireworks limitations.
Fireworks cannot be used on city property, including parks, city streets and city sidewalks. They also cannot be used on state land or on school property, unless a permit has been issued.
It is also important to remember there are many fire safety concerns involving fireworks including: extreme danger of fire due to dry weather conditions; possibility of fires spreading from yard to house or across open areas and causing major damage to undeveloped areas. Nationally, more than $36 million in property damage is caused by fireworks annually.
