One (1) vacancy exists on each of the Public Safety Personnel Retirement System (PSPRS) Local Boards (Fire-Medical and Police) for a term beginning July 1, 2020 and ending on June 30, 2024. Any City of Peoria employee who is a covered member of the Public Safety Retirement System of Arizona may seek election to this position. 

Nomination for election requires a petition signed by 10 City of Peoria Employees who are covered members of the Public Safety Retirement System of Arizona (Fire-Medical and Police).  Any member interested in being on the ballot must submit signed nomination petitions to the Office of the City Clerk by April 30, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. Please call 623-773-7340 if you have any questions.

BOARD INFORMATION

Authority:

 

Arizona Revised Statutes, §38-847 and City Code, Chapter 3, Sections 3-8, 3-60 and 3-61

Members:  

-Mayor or Mayor’s designee
-2 residents of the city
-2 fire-medical department employees who are members of the PSPRS (official election required) (residency exceptions)
-2 police department employees who are members of the PSPRS (official election required) (residency exceptions)

There are two separate Boards - representing Fire-Medical and Police Department employee pension matters. Meetings are held a minimum of once per year, and questions of eligibility, service credits, pension amount, and manner and time of payment of any benefit under the Public Safety Retirement System are decided by this Board, Claimants and/or the fund managers are entitled to a rehearing in original determinations made by the Board.
