All construction that requires a permit must be inspected and approved before it is covered or otherwise concealed, occupied or placed into use. It is the permit holder’s responsibility to have the permit and approved plans onsite and available for the inspector.


Building Inspections

Building inspectors are available from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. You can schedule or cancel a permit inspection online. Requests must be submitted before midnight of the day the inspection is to be performed. Any request to cancel an inspection for the same day must be done by contacting your inspector before 7:15 a.m.; otherwise, a re-inspection fee and a day delay to reschedule the inspection will be applied.

Online Inspection Scheduling

  1. Visit our online permitting application.
  2. On the Building tab click Schedule an Inspection.
  3. Enter your building permit number in the permit window and click Search.
  4. Your building permit will appear at the bottom of the screen. Click the building permit number.
  5. The inspection information will appear under the Inspections category. Click Schedule or Request an Inspection for a list of inspections. Select the inspection you would like to schedule and click Continue.
  6. Select the date for which you wish to schedule the inspection. Inspections can be scheduled up to three days in advance.
  7. Check the Available Times box and click Continue. Verify the location and click Continue.
  8. Please provide a contact phone number and any special instructions for the inspector by clicking on Click Here to Include Additional Notes.
  9. Click Finish. Your inspection is scheduled.

If you would like to schedule another inspection for the same permit, repeat from Step 5.

If you would like to schedule a building inspection for a different permit click on the Schedule an Inspection link at the top of the page and repeat from Step 3.

After-Hour Inspections

After-hour inspections may be available should customers need an inspection during non-business hours. After-hour inspections are based on staffing availability and may not be available on the day requested. Customers must have pre-authorization from the building inspection supervisor and must pay all required fees at least 24 hours prior to the inspection. An after-hours inspection request form must be completed and submitted to the building counter for processing.


Engineering Inspections

Engineering inspectors are available from 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Online inspection scheduling is not available for engineering inspections. Inspections must be scheduled by calling the inspection request line at 623-773-8445. When leaving a message, please be prepared to provide the following information:

  • Permit number (all engineering permits begin with the letter E).
  • Project location and name.
  • Type of inspection needed.
  • Contact name and phone number.

Please allow 24-48 hours for the inspection to be conducted. A pre-construction meeting is required prior to commencing work.

After-Hour Inspections

After-hour inspections may be available should customers need an inspection during non-business hours. After-hour inspections are based on staffing availability and may not be available on the day requested. Customers must have pre-authorization from the engineering inspection supervisor and must pay all required fees upon receipt of invoice. An after-hours inspection request form must be completed and submitted to the engineering counter for processing.


Planning Inspections

Landscaping & Exterior Improvements

Planning landscape and exterior improvement inspections are conducted on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Inspections must be scheduled by calling the planning inspection request line at 623-773-7662. When leaving a message, please be prepared to provide the following information:

  • Permit number.
  • Project location and name.
  • Contact name and phone number.

Please allow 24-48 hours for the inspection to be conducted. A re-inspection fee (per inspection) may be applied after two failed inspection attempts. Failed inspections must be rescheduled.

Signs

For all illuminated building-mounted wall signs or freestanding monument signs, you can schedule or cancel a permit inspection online. Requests must be submitted before midnight of the day the inspection is to be performed. Any request to cancel an inspection for the same day must be done by contacting your inspector before 7:15 a.m.; otherwise, a re-inspection fee and a day delay to reschedule the inspection will be applied.

For all sign types, to obtain a final planning inspection, email daytime (and nighttime if illuminated) photos of installed sign to signs@peoriaaz.gov. Please be sure to include your permit number and project location in your email.

Online Inspection Scheduling

  1. Visit our online permitting application.
  2. In the Planning tab click Schedule an Inspection.
  3. Enter your case number in the permit window and click Search.
  4. Your case number will appear at the bottom of the screen. Click the case number.
  5. The inspection information will appear under the Inspections category. Click Schedule or Request an Inspection for a list of inspections. Select the inspection you would like to schedule and click Continue.
  6. Select the date for which you wish to schedule the inspection. Inspections can be scheduled up to three days in advance.
  7. Check the Available Time’ box and click Continue. Verify the location and click Continue.
  8. Please provide a contact phone number and any special instructions for the inspector by clicking on Click Here to Include Additional Notes.
  9. Click Finish. Your inspection is scheduled.

If you would like to schedule another inspection for the same permit, repeat from Step 5.

If you would like to schedule an inspection for a different permit, click on the Schedule an Inspection link at the top of the page and repeat from Step 3.


Fire Inspections

Fire inspectors are available from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. You can schedule or cancel a permit inspection online. Requests must be submitted before midnight of the day the inspection is to be performed; however, your inspection date and time are not confirmed until you are contacted by the Fire Prevention Division. Next-day inspections may not be available if you schedule your inspection after normal business hours. Any request to cancel an inspection for the same day must be done by contacting the Fire Prevention Division at 623-773-7279 before the scheduled inspection time. A re-inspection fee (per inspection) may be applied after two failed inspection attempts. Failed inspections must be rescheduled.

  6. Please provide a contact phone number and any special instructions for the inspector by clicking on Click Here to Include Additional Notes.
  7. Click Finish. Your request has been received.
  8. Your inspector will contact you with the date and time of the inspection.

If you would like to schedule another inspection for the same permit, repeat from Step 5.

If you would like to schedule a building inspection on a different permit click on the Schedule an Inspection link at the top of the page and repeat from Step 3.

After-Hour Inspections

After-hour inspections may be available should customers need an inspection during non-business hours. You must contact the Fire Prevention Division at 623-773-7279 to determine how much time is needed for the inspection. After-hour inspections are based on staffing availability and may not be available on the day requested. Customers must have pre-authorization from the fire inspection supervisor and must pay all required fees prior to the inspection request being finalized.
