City of Peoria to Host Annual Pioneer Days Festival

Historic downtown Peoria set for fun day of family activities to celebrate its heritage.


City of Peoria and Peoria Historical Society invites the community to celebrate the heritage of Peoria past and present with the Annual Pioneer Days Festival on Saturday, April 14 in Oldtown Peoria at 83rd Avenue, just south of Grand Avenue. Pioneer Days is a celebration of Peoria's heritage which dates back to the late 1800's when the town was first developed by settlers from Peoria, Illinois. Today, the city of Peoria, Arizona is a thriving community of more than 154,000 residents.

5K Run & 1 mile Family Fun Walk: 8:00 a.m., with check-in beginning at 7:00 a.m. The start and finish of the race will take place at Osuna Park (10510 N. 83rd Avenue Peoria, AZ). This race will be part of the new Peoria Runner's Series. For more information or to register visit our website at www.peoriaaz.gov/running. Overall Men's and Women's Champions will be crowned. Top three finishers in each age/gender division will receive medals. Age groups are: 13 & Under, 14-19, 20-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-59, 60-69, and over 70.

Community Yard Sale: 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m., The Community Yard Sale at Osuna Park will be held from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Osuna Park is located at 10510 N 83rd Avenue Peoria, AZ) Join vendors in the park with great bargains! There is a small charge to register.

Family Bike Ride: 10:00 a.m. with check-in beginning at 9:30 a.m. The six-mile ride goes through downtown Peoria. The Family Fun Bike riders will be leading this year's Pioneer Day Parade. For more information about ride contact Brandon Forrey at (623) 773-7201.

Pioneer Day Parade: 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Grab a seat along 83rd Avenue in front of the Peoria Historical Museum and watch over 30 entries at this year's Pioneer Days Parade.

FREE Family Picnic: 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. - while supplies last. Picnic is located in Osuna Park (10510 N 83rd Avenue Peoria, AZ)
