**Neighborhood Pride Event Saturday February 6th**
Neighborhood Pride is designed to help established neighborhoods maintain their appearance, livability and value through exterior maintenance. The program is a cooperative work effort between the City, residents and volunteers. The City of Peoria’s Planning and Community Development Department maintains an annual budget of $50,000 for these revitalization efforts and is able to stretch those resources through community partnerships. Saturday, February 6th marks our 68th project in our Neighborhood Pride program since inception in 1996.
Saturday’s event will take place in the Braewood neighborhood located in the Acacia District. The Braewood neighborhood is located north of Peoria on Sahuaro Drive and Becker Lane between 87th Avenue and 88th Drive. The Neighborhood Pride program will make improvements to twenty (20) Peoria residences during this phase. Twelve (12) homes will be painted, four (4) homes will receive gravel, fourteen (14) homes will have their trees/bushes trimmed, six (6) homes will have their fence/gate repaired and five (5) homes have debris to be removed. It takes more than supplies to revitalize a distressed neighborhood. People power, from volunteers and residents, is what makes the Neighborhood Pride program a success. We are expecting over 400 volunteers this day and welcome any others who would like to participate in this day - we start at 7:00am!

About the Community Assistance Section
Our mission is to promote and preserve the integrity and safety of neighborhoods. This work is accomplished by offering programs to revitalize older neighborhoods that are showing signs of deterioration. The Neighborhoods and Revitalization Section also provides formal and informal training and educational information to Homeowners Associations and individual citizens as well as offering other programs funded by the Federal Government aimed at assisting individual citizens and not-for-profit entities in developing or maintaining the integrity of homes and neighborhood areas.
An active neighborhood brings together neighbors who share common interests about their property, homes and community. There is strength in numbers and having a unified voice can make a difference. Let us help you and your neighbors take an active role in your community.
