Water Conservation Rebate Program
WATER IS OUR MOST PRECIOUS RESOURCE: In Peoria, water conservation is a way of life. Peoria actively protects and preserves its diverse water supply through aquifer recharge, direct reuse of reclaimed water for landscaping and other non-drinking water demands, as well as planning and building reliable water infrastructure. Our water customers also play an integral part, recognizing the importance of saving water as a key part of living in a desert environment.
Our water conservation program is working. In the past decade alone, Peoria's water customers have reduced their water consumption by an average of 15% - that's 20,400 gallons per household per year!
We hope you take advantage of Peoria's free classes, public outreach at dozens of events annually, and rebate incentives on multiple water-wise home improvement investments to save even more water.
Procedure: Click on the quick link at the right to learn more about the rebates.
Note: Rebates are available for the City of Peoria water customers only. All rebate application requests and rebate credits prior to July 1, 2015 are ineligible for this program. A limited number of rebates are available each fiscal year. Rebates will be given on a first come, first served basis from the date and time the rebate application is received. The City of Peoria reserves the right to suspend this program at any time during the year.
A $100 rebate is available to City of Peoria Utilities' water or sewer customers who upgrade their high water use toilets with high-efficiency Environmental Protection Agency WaterSense units in their homes. High-efficiency toilets (HETs) use less than 1.3 gallons per flush. The new toilet must carry the EPA WaterSense label. The old toilet must be 3.5 gallons or more per flush. Houses built in 1994 or after are not eligible due to requirements of the 1994 plumbing code. Trash-only customers are ineligible. The rebate amount may not exceed the purchase price of the HET before tax.
City of Peoria Utilities’ water customers can earn a credit of up to $1,650 by converting high water use landscaping (i.e. grass) to Xeriscape (low water use landscaping that includes plant material). Sewer and trash-only customers are ineligible.
Xeriscape - New Home
City of Peoria Utilities' water customers can receive a credit of $150 if they purchase a newly constructed home and choose Xeriscape landscaping. Sewer and trash-only customers are ineligible.
Smart Irrigation Controller
A credit of up to $250 is available to City of Peoria Utilities’ water customers who purchase and install a new smart irrigation controller. Smart irrigation controllers differ from conventional irrigation controllers in that they posses features that allow them to automatically adjust to environmental conditions such as wind, rain, temperature, moisture, and evapotranspiration. Sewer and trash-only customers are ineligible. The rebate amount may not exceed the purchase price of the controller before tax.
