Peoria Celebrates Grand Opening of New Station

Post Date:11/07/2017 4:58 PM

Members of the Peoria community, including Councilmembers and Peoria Police officers gathered to celebrate the opening of the city’s newest police station.

The state of the art, 17,000 square foot building features a dedicated training room, prisoner processing area, K-9 training area, modern workout facility and multiple officer workstations. The innovative design combined with many of its unique and sustainable features resulted in the building being the most recent of Peoria’s municipal buildings to receive the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification. The building is located at 23100B North Lake Pleasant Parkway and will function as the home base for the officers who serve the residents in the northern part of the city.

Mayor Cathy Carlat spoke at the event and shared her excitement of the new facility saying, “With this expanded facility, designed to enable public safety growth as our population grows, Peoria citizens can rest assured that they will continue to receive exceptional service from the men and women of the Peoria Police Department.”

In his remarks, Chief of Police Roy Minter thanked the Mayor and Council for their support in making the substation a reality, adding, “This new facility will allow us to strengthen our commitment of building and sustaining collaborative partnerships with our community.”

Approximately 100 members of the community attended the ribbon cutting ceremony where they were treated to refreshments and guided tours of the building.

The design of the building was a result of a partnership between Corgan and MWL Consulting. Haydon Building Corporation constructed the building with J2 Designs completing the exterior and landscaping.
