Fireworks Show Cancelled in Peoria

Post Date:06/29/2020

PEORIA, Ariz. (June 30, 2020) – As a result of the increase in community spread of COVID-19, the city of Peoria made the difficult decision to cancel the fireworks show previously planned at three locations for the All-American Festival at Home this Saturday, July 4.

The health and well being of Peoria’s residents is the No. 1 priority so event organizers have decided to reimagine Peoria’s annual Independence Day celebration this year. The All-American Festival at Home will be a full day of fun activities easily accessible from computer screens, mobile devices and TVs. Residents can participate in a cannonball contest, take a tour of a fire station, learn about fire safety, get BBQ tips from local restaurateurs, play trivia and more with their families from the comfort of their homes. The city will also rebroadcast the best of previous fireworks shows at the end of the day. Below is a schedule of activities that begin at 12 p.m.

In lieu of the city’s fireworks show, some residents may choose to celebrate with their own fireworks. The Peoria Fire-Medical Department encourages residents to be careful while using legal fireworks. Fireworks are not permitted on city, state or school property. Residents should be considerate of their neighbors, animals and flammable desert spaces and supervise children near fireworks. The majority of injuries that occur on July 4th are caused by misuse of consumer fireworks or by those consumer fireworks that prematurely detonate. For more safety tips, visit www.peoriaaz.gov/fireworks.
