Peoria Opens Two Pools for the Summer
PEORIA, Ariz. (June 8, 2020) – Starting Monday, June 22, the city of Peoria will open two of its three pools for a limited number of swim lessons, lap swim and water aerobics classes.
“We’ve been working to ensure our pool facilities and programming follow the state and federal guidelines for sanitation and social distancing,” said John Sefton, Peoria Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities Director. “This limited opening on June 22 will allow us to offer water safety and essential learn-to-swim and wellness programming to residents.”
In accordance with the city’s reopening plan and the state and federal guidelines for opening facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic, Peoria will open the Peoria and Sunrise Pools for session three swim lessons, lap swim and water aerobics on June 22. Registration for swim lessons begins Wednesday, June 17. Centennial Pool will remain closed. Protocols for sanitation and social distancing have been put in place to promote the safety and health of residents, including regular intervals for cleaning and limiting class sizes to 10 people or less and lap swim to two swimmers per lane.
The Peoria Pool will be open to the public Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 3:50 to 8 p.m. for swim lessons only. Sunrise Pool will be open Monday through Thursday from 6 to 8 a.m. to for lap swim only, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 3:15 to 8 p.m. for swim lessons only, and Saturday and Sunday 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. for water aerobics and swim lessons. Pool hours, programming and season duration are subject to change.
