February Second Saturdays Includes Plein Air Event

Post Date:01/21/2020

PEORIA, Ariz. (Jan. 21, 2019) – The February festival will be on Saturday, Feb. 8 and include a live Plein Air event where artists will paint scenes of Old Town Peoria. Once complete, these paintings will be showcased in city art galleries.

“We’re very excited for the Plein Air painting that will take place at our February Second Saturday,” said Peoria Arts and Events Manager Marylou Stephens. “The professional artists involved bring a high skill level in Plein Air painting to this first time event. And, what’s great about this particular Plein Air event is that the city will purchase some of these paintings of Peoria to be displayed and enjoyed in the city’s art galleries.”

Second Saturdays is free and occurs every second Saturday of the month through May. It will be from 4:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the heart of Old Town Peoria, between Osuna Park, the Peoria Center for the Performing Arts (PCPA), Driftwood Coffee, Iron Key Studio and Lucidi Distilling Co. The following Plein Air artists will be set up between Washington Street and 83rd Avenue: Chrisanne Finefrock, Nancy Romanovsky, Peggy Orbon, Jinsheng Song, Rich Orbon, Tom Conner, Allen Garns, Johan Sorvala, Lance Gulseth, Gabriele Baber, Kristi Wilbur, Kimberly Scott, Linda Pullinsi, Ann Osgood and Casey Cheuvront.

Also, unique to Second Saturdays, is the pop-up restaurants, complete with vintage dishware, linens and centerpieces. For $30, attendees can pick one of two themed dining experiences with a gourmet menu cooked by a professional chef: “Soul Cooking with G’mamas” including pulled pork and peach cobbler by Chef Curesa Jones or “Latino Bros Cuisine” including pernil and rice by Chefs Tone and Santana, which is a new restaurant opening in Peoria in the spring. Along with the pop-up restaurants, there will be live music, outdoor games, interactive art, photo booths, and food trucks.
