Peoria Seeks Candidate to Fill Vacancy for Pine District Council Seat

PEORIA, Ariz. (April 17, 2019) – The city of Peoria is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the Pine District council seat vacated by Councilmember Carlo Leone. The Peoria city council will select an interim councilmember to serve until a special election is held on August 27, 2019.

Individuals interested in being considered must have lived in the city of Peoria for at least one year and be a current Pine district resident, be registered to vote in Arizona, be at least 21 years of age and must not hold another elected or appointed public office.

Candidates must file a city council vacancy application with the city clerk’s office by Friday, April 26, 2019 at 5:00 p.m. in order to be considered for interim appointment.  Interviews will then take place at a special council meeting on Monday, April 29 at 5 p.m.

Individuals who would like to run for the open seat in the special election must file a letter indicating their intent to run by Friday, April 26 by 5 p.m. These candidates must then follow any state statute and/or city code regarding nomination and election procedures.
