Peoria Seeks Applicants for 2019 Peoria Leadership Institute

Peoria, Ariz. (Mar. 4 , 2019) – The Peoria Leadership Institute kicks off next month and with few remaining spots available, the city is encouraging interested residents to submit their applications to become part of the 2019 class. The program runs Wednesday, April 17 through Tuesday, June 18.

"This program gives citizens an opportunity to see how their tax dollars bring value to their daily lives," said Mayor Cathy Carlat. "It's an in-depth look at what it takes to operate a city of our size and I believe residents will be amazed at what they learn."

The Peoria Leadership Institute offers an in-depth look at all operations of city government. During the nine-week course, class members will learn more about the interworkings of a city government, its budget and finances, public works, utility, police and fire operations through interactive discussions with management staff. Participants will also enjoy a few behind-the-scenes tours of city facilities and get a behind-the-badge view of public safety in action. Graduation from the course will take place on Tuesday, June 4 at the City Council meeting.

The Institute is open to all Peoria residents 18 years of age or older. Interested applicants can learn more about the program and apply at www.peoriaaz.gov/PLI
