Notice: Stormwater Management Program Open for Public Comment
The City of Peoria is required to prepare a Stormwater Management Program (SWMP) that guides the City in complying with the Arizona Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (AZPDES) General Permit for Stormwater Discharges from Small Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (MS4) To Waters of the United States. The goal of the permit is to eliminate or minimize pollutants getting into stormwater and entering receiving waters. The SWMP includes best management practices that the City must implement to control pollutants. The MS4 Permit also requires the City to provide opportunity to the public to review and provide comments on the SWMP.
This announcement starts a 30-day public comment period. The City will then compile the comments, and use them to revise and update the plan with the purpose of continuous improvement of the Stormwater Management Program. The SWMP will be revised with appropriate changes by September 30, 2018, the date at which the City must submit its Stormwater Annual Report to the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality.
