Assured Water Supply

The City has been designated by the Arizona Department of Water Resources as having an Assured Water Supply.  This designation was granted in February 1998 and lasts until 2010.  Contained with the designation is a plan on how Peoria is going to construct the necessary water infrastructure in order to utilize the renewable water supplies the City has available to it.

In the early part of 2002, the Utilities department submitted an application to modify the City’s designation of an Assured Water Supply. The modification included an additional supply of groundwater that was associated with a piece of land the City annexed and the recharge of reclaimed water at the Beardsley Water Reclamation Facility. The addition of both of those supplies increased the City’s designation volume by 6,670 acre feet annually to a current total of 41,684 acre-feet per year.
