CITY OF PEORIA, ARIZONA ARTS COMMISSION OUTLOOK ROOM September 13, 2011 A Regular Meeting of the Arts Commission of the City of Peoria, Arizona, was convened at 9875 N. 85th Avenue, at 5:09 p.m. Members Present: Robert Benson, Christopher Hearn, Marleejean Johnson, Steve Poe and Pamela Potter Members Absent: Lizabeth Gordon and Jack Lytle Other Municipal Officials Present: Jeff Tyne, Community Services Director; Heidi Gannuscio, Management Analyst; Andre Licardi, Cultural Arts Coordinator and Ellen Comella, Administrative Assistant Audience: 1 Note: The order in which the items appear in the minutes is not necessarily the order in which they were discussed at the meeting. CONSENT AGENDA All items listed with a “C” are considered to be routine by the Arts Commission and were enacted by one motion. Minutes: 1C Discussion and possible action to approve/excuse member’s absence from August 9, 2011 regular meeting: Lizabeth Gordon and Jack Lytle 2C Discussion and possible action to approve the minutes of August 9, 2011 A motion was made by Steve Poe to approve the consent agenda; the motion was seconded by Pamela Potter and the motion carried unanimously. New Business: 3R Arts Grants Andre Licardi advised that the Arts Grant Panel will be meeting the end of September to make their recommendation to the Commission for the Program, Festival and General Grants. No action taken 4R Downtown Public Art Andre Licardi spoke briefly about the downtown art projects, Osuna Park, 84th Streetscape and Centennial Plaza. No action taken 5R Small Art Andre Licardi gave a power point presentation showing several small art; artists work and items that are currently available. He asked the Commission to email him any thoughts, likes and dislikes. No action taken 6R Future Agenda Items Pamela Potter would like to have discussion on ideas to generate more music events. No action taken Call to the Public: Connie McMillin spoke briefly on the WVAM news letter and how to go on line to get on the monthly mailing list. Reports from Staff: 1. Council Presentation Andre Licardi asked the Commission to attend the upcoming Study Session with Council on the “State of the Arts” which has been scheduled for October 18th at 4:00 p.m. (date and time may change see website for details.) 2. Percent for the Arts Jeff Tyne is working with staff to get more details for the Commission and will report back at a later date. 3. Gallery Schedule Andre Licardi advised that the current WVAM exhibit will end on September 22nd. The reception for the new exhibit John Armstrong Prints will be on Thursday, September 29th from 4:00 – 6:00. Reports from Commission: None Being no further business to come before the Commission, a motion was made by Steve Poe to adjourn the meeting; the motion was seconded by Pamela Potter.
