CITY OF PEORIA, ARIZONA Main Library Board room January 11, 2011 A Regular Meeting of the Arts Commission of the City of Peoria, Arizona, was convened at 8463 W. Monroe Street, at 5:05 p.m. Members Present: Wayne Baxter, Robert Benson, John Buonagurio, Marleejean Johnson and Jack Lytle Members Absent: Linda Ballance and Lizabeth Gordon Other Municipal Officials Present: David Hunenberg, Library Manager; Andre Licardi, Cultural Arts Coordinator and Ellen Comella, Administrative Assistant Audience: 0 Note: The order in which the items appear in the minutes is not necessarily the order in which they were discussed at the meeting. CONSENT AGENDA All items listed with a “C” are considered to be routine by the Arts Commission and were enacted by one motion. Minutes: 1C Discussion and possible action to approve/excuse member’s absence from November 9, 2010 regular meeting: Linda Ballance 2C Discussion and possible action to approve the minutes of November 9, 2010 A motion was made by John Buonagurio to approve the consent agenda; the motion was seconded by Jack Lytle and the motion carried unanimously. New Business: 3R Centennial Plaza Decades Walk David Hunenberg asked the Commission for any other ideas for the Decades Walk, if so they must be submitted to him no later than January 24th. No action taken. 4R Donation Policy Andre Licardi handed out the recommended policies for acceptance of gifts, relocation and de-accession to the Commission. Upon discussion it was decided that one change be made; the Art Commission will have authority to accept gifts valued up to $25,000.00; gifts in excess of $25,000.00 must be brought before the City Council. A motion was made by John Buonagurio to approve the recommended Donation Policy with the gift value change to $25,000.00; the motion was seconded by Wayne Baxter and the motion was carried unanimously. 5R Call to Artists Andre Licardi spoke about the possibility of a Call to Artists list that would run for approximately two years. This would tie in all the current projects and artists together with one common theme. No action taken. 6R Sunrise Mountain Library Art Project Andre Licardi spoke about the new photos on the Art Commission website and advised completion is on target for mid February installation. No action taken Call to the Public: None Reports from Staff: 1. Bravo Peoria David Hunenberg advised that the activity schedule is just about complete. The March 12th event will be a fun filled day for all. 2. West Valley Art Museum David Hunenberg said that the city is negotiating with the West Valley Art Museum to give them limited access to their collection with parts of the collection to be exhibited in the near future. 3. Peoria Art Gallery David Hunenberg advised that the final walk through of the Gallery was done this morning with just a few minor fix ups needed. The Smithsonian Exhibit should be arriving by Friday. Reports from Commission: None Being no further business to come before the Commission, a motion was made by John Buonagurio to adjourn the meeting; the motion was seconded by Wayne Baxter.
