Child Passenger Safety Week: September 19-25, 2010

Though it may seem like an uncomplicated task, 4 out of 5 car seats are installed or used improperly.  Do you think your child’s seat is installed properly or do you know its installed properly. Have your car seat checked and/or installed by a trained car seat technician. Appointments are made daily at the Fire Administration office (8351 W Cinnibar Ave Peoria). Unintentional injury is the number one cause of death in young children. Most of these injuries and fatalities are preventable. Creating a safer home for your family takes a statistical look at childhood injuries and provides concrete ways to prevent them. Topics include:

• Home fire safety
• Water safety
• Motor vehicle safety
• Dialing 911
• Choking
• Other safety topics

Whether you have a newborn or a sixteen year old this will teach you something you didn’t know and provide you with information you can take back to make your home a safer place to live.

About the Fire Department 

The Peoria Fire Department is a paid municipal department, comprised of 144 sworn personnel and 23 civilian personnel, serving 180 square miles and an estimated city population of 150,000.

The Peoria Fire Department consists of four divisions. The Fire Administrative Division, the Fire Prevention Division, the Fire Training Division and the Fire Operations Division. There are eight (8) fire stations strategically located throughout the city.
