Criminal
Intelligence/Homeland Security Analyst
The Criminal
Intelligence/Homeland Security Analyst’s role in law
enforcement is a pivotal one. The responsibility of
the Department’s Intelligence/Homeland Security
Analyst is to collect and analyze information on
individuals and groups suspected of being-or known
to be-or about to become involved in criminal
activity. The Intelligence function can support a
broad range of activities within the agency, from
municipal to federal to international. The
Intelligence function enables department employees
to identify and understand criminal groups operating
in their area. Although criminal intelligence may be
used to assist in investigations, surveillance
operations, and the prosecution of cases, it also
provides the department with the ability to
effectively manage resources, budget and meet their
responsibility to forecast community threats. The
Criminal Intelligence/Homeland Security Analyst also
represents the Peoria Police Department on numerous
Homeland Security committees and assists with
emergency operations.
