The Operations Division
is overseen by a Deputy Chief of Police and consists of the
Criminal Investigation Bureau, Patrol
Services Bureau (PSB), and the Operations Support
Bureau.
The Patrol Services Bureau, which comprises
the majority of sworn personnel, provides
24-hour emergency response to our citizens' calls
for service.
The Operations
Support Section, includes Traffic Services which is responsible for monitoring
the City's traffic laws and the investigation of
collisions. Operations Support Section also
includes a
variety of operational support units and teams. |
Patrol Services Bureau
The Patrol Services Bureau (PSB) provides police
services to the growing community by focusing on
five operational goals: (1) prevent crime and
disorder; (2) respond promptly to calls for service;
(3) develop safer neighborhoods through community
partnerships and participation; (4) enhance traffic
safety; and (5) maintain the integrity, quality and
effectiveness of policing services. Patrol Services
Bureau members are the first responders to all calls
for service from our citizens. In this role,
officers are trained to provide a variety of
services which include accident investigation,
emergency response to crimes in progress,
proactive patrols, and crime prevention. The bureau
also oversees Residential and Commercial
Security Alarm Registration and enforcement.
Most of the sworn personnel work out of the new
Public Safety Administration Building located in
south Peoria. Two teams work out of to the
Pinnacle Peak Public Safety Facility located on Lake
Pleasant Road in northern Peoria.

Criminal Investigation Bureau
The Criminal Investigation Bureau is
responsible for all follow-up investigations
involving criminal activity that occurs within the
City of Peoria. The Bureau is also tasked with
covert drug operations, surveillance and
intelligence gathering.
Operations Support Bureau
The Operations Support Bureau is
responsible for a variety of operational support units,
including the Traffic Services Section, K9 Unit, the
Commercial Enforcement Unit, Community Services
Unit, Special Assignments
Unit (SAU), Crisis Negotiations Team (CNT), and
the Neighborhood Action Team (NAT). In addition,
Operations Support Bureau is also responsible for
special event planning and coordination.
