Storekeeper
GENERAL PURPOSE
Receives, stores, and issues supplies and equipment at
the City storeroom; and, maintains stock inventory
records.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED
Receive general supervision from management,
professional, or technical staff. May exercise technical
and functional supervision over assigned personnel.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties listed below are intended only as
illustrations of the various types of work that may be

• Receives, stocks, stores, and issues materials, tools,
and equipment; assigns stock numbers to new materials
• Inspects shipments of equipment and supplies received
for conformity to purchase order specifications. Notes
shortages, damages, or other discrepancies and reports
them to the immediate supervisor; maintains security of
inventory
• Performs inventory of storeroom supplies and maintain
inventory records; assists in annual inventory of all
stock, supplies, and fixed assets
• Fills requisitions and schedule deliveries; picks up
and delivers supplies, materials, and equipment
• Consolidates routine purchase orders for storeroom
stock
• Performs tagging, record keeping and inventory of
assigned fixed assets
• Operates a forklift, truck, and a variety of small
equipment
• Answers telephones, types letters and memorandums as
necessary
• Writes reports on materials costs
• Cleans and maintains storage facilities
• Assists with preparation and distribution of mail as
assigned
• Operates a forklift and pick-up truck
• Understands and follows oral and written instructions
• Communicates clearly and concisely, both orally and in
writing
• Establishes and maintains effective working
relationships with those contacted in the course of work
• Performs related duties, as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
High School Diploma or equivalent and two years of stock
or storekeeping experience, including experience in the
maintenance of computerized and/or manual records.
Possession of, or ability to obtain, an appropriate,
valid Arizona driver's license.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Additional training in warehouse management desirable.
Knowledge of storekeeping procedures, including
receiving and inspecting materials. Inventory procedures
and forms. Basic mathematics. Equipment and supplies
used by City departments. Modern office procedures,
methods, and computer equipment. Safety hazards and
appropriate precautions applicable to work assignments.

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this class, an employee
is frequently required to sit, walk and stand; talk or
hear, in person and by telephone; use hands to finger,
handle, feel or operate standard office equipment;
engage in repetitive movement with hands and wrists;
reach with hands and arms. Employees regularly may
stoop, kneel, bend or crouch and lift 20 pounds of force
constantly to move objects and up to 50 pounds
frequently and lift or move and up to 100 pounds
occasionally. Specific vision abilities required by this
job include close vision, distance vision, the use of
both eyes and the ability to adjust focus.
