BRIEF DESCRIPTION:

The purpose of this position is to manage IT web services for the city through a centralized IT department.  This is accomplished by supervising staff, monitoring, updating and maintaining City web servers and websites, analyzing and troubleshooting internet related issues, providing technical assistance, and providing development of programs and systems for staff

 Essential Functions

Monitors, updates, and maintains City web servers and websites by providing daily administration and configuration of web servers, monitoring logs, emails, and website for performance and security issues, managing and configuring SSL security certificates and domain names, performing utility and usability testing, developing content and applications as requested, researching new technologies, and creating complex websites as needed.

Analyzes and troubleshoots internet related issues by supporting department internet needs, analyzing security status on internet and network, and preparing usage reports for departments.

Provides development of programs and systems for staff by directing training and support for City employees in internet usage, determining web project schedules and tasks to facilitate implementation of web based applications, developing recommendations for cost effective improvements, and meeting with departments on planned projects.

Supervises staff by planning and supervising daily tasks and activities, establishing procedures and guidelines, evaluating assigned services, coaching for performance improvement and recommending personnel actions.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

-Description of Minimum Job Requirements-

Formal Education

Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature which may be obtained with a two year associate's degree, diploma or equivalent from a college, technical, business, vocational, or correspondence school.  Appropriate certification may be awarded upon satisfactory completion of advanced study or training.

Experience

Over three years up to and including five years experience.

Supervision

Work requires functioning as a lead worker performing essentially the same work as those directed, and includes overseeing work quality, training, instructing, and scheduling work.

Human Collaboration Skills

Work may require providing advice to others outside direct reporting relationships on specific problems or general policies.  Contacts may require the consideration of different points of view to reach agreement.  Elements of persuasion may be necessary to gain cooperation and acceptance of ideas.

Freedom to Act

The employee normally performs the job by following established standard operating procedures and/or policies.  There is a choice of the appropriate procedure or policy to apply to duties.  Performance reviewed periodically.

Reading
