Title:
Transportation Planning Engineer
FLSA Status: Exempt
BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this position is to
manage traffic and safety programs. This is accomplished by
conducting field reviews, working with school districts on
traffic safety concerns, developing Neighborhood Traffic
Management Plans, coordinating new traffic flows and
installation of bike lanes, striping and signage changes,
approving new traffic control devices and school crossings,
preparing and presenting reports, documents, presentations
and related information, and coordinating contracting
efforts. Other duties include organizing events and
training, serving on committees, completing special studies,
participating in the procurement process, and coordinating
activities with departments and outside agencies.

REQUIREMENTS:

Formal Education |
Work requires broad knowledge in a
general professional or technical field. Knowledge is
normally acquired through four years of college
resulting in a Bachelor's degree or equivalent. |

Experience |
Over three years up to and
including five years experience. |
|
Supervision |
Work requires the occasional
direction of helpers, assistants, seasonal employees,
interns, volunteers or temporary employees. |
|
Human Collaboration Skills |
Decisions regarding implementation
of policies may be made. Contact may involve support of
controversial positions or the negotiation of sensitive
issues or important presentations. Contacts may involve
stressful, negative interactions with the public
requiring high levels of tact and the ability to respond
