Public Information Manager
FLSA Status: Exempt
BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this position is to
create and produce internal and external communications
programs and products and to respond to requests and
inquiries from outside sources. This is accomplished by
overseeing the development, production and distribution of
all communications, developing relationships, acting as
internal consultant, and placing city stories in the media.
Other duties include overseeing citizen satisfaction
surveys, responding to inquiries, and completing related
administrative tasks.

REQUIREMENTS:

Formal Education |
Work requires broad knowledge in a
general professional or technical field. Knowledge is
normally acquired through four years of college
resulting in a Bachelor's degree or equivalent. |
|
Experience |
Over three years up to and
including five years experience. |
|
Supervision |
Work requires managing and
monitoring work performance of a division including
evaluating program/work objectives and effectiveness,
establishing broad organizational goals and realigning
work and staffing assignments for the department. |
|
Human Collaboration Skills |
Recommendations regarding policy
development and implementation are made and/or
recommended. Evaluates customer satisfaction, develops
cooperative associations, and utilizes resources to
continuously improve customer satisfaction. |
|
Freedom to Act |
The employee normally performs the
duty assignment according to his or her own judgment,
requesting supervisory assistance only when necessary.
Special projects are managed with little oversight and
assignments may be reviewed upon completion. Performance
reviewed periodically. |
|
Technical Skills |
Skilled: Work requires a
comprehensive, practical knowledge of a technical field
with use of analytical judgment and decision-making
abilities appropriate to the work environment of the
organization. |
|
Budget Responsibility |
Position has moderate fiscal
responsibility. Makes recommendations toward fiscal
decisions within the department. May be responsible for
the billing, collection and/or accounting of funds.
May be responsible for the handling and balancing of
cash. |

Reading |
Advanced - Ability to read
literature, books, reviews, scientific or technical
journals, abstracts, financial reports, and/or legal

the college level or above. However, it may be obtained
