Title: IT Project Coordinator

 FLSA Status: Exempt

BRIEF DESCRIPTION:

The purpose of this position is to plan and coordinate implementation of voice and data cabling infrastructure and telecommunications systems.  This is accomplished by completing moves, adds and changes, managing projects, participating in new construction activities, ordering services and equipment, and working on service related issues.  Other duties include responding to inquiries and requests, interfacing with vendors, ensuring publications listings and records are updated.

Administers voice and data communications by scheduling and conducting adds, moves and changes, maintaining trunk records and related documentation, responding to inquiries, assisting with emergency call issues, and assisting with department moves.

Coordinates projects by attending meetings, creating spreadsheets, ensuring voice and data needs are met, working with departments and overseeing vendors, reviewing project scopes, ordering equipment and services, and monitoring budgets and quality assurance.

Works with telecommunications systems by coordinating efforts with users on service issues, assisting with new service, and coordinating upgrades.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Formal Education

Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature which may be obtained with a two year associate's degree, diploma or equivalent from a college, technical, business, vocational, or correspondence school.  Appropriate certification may be awarded upon satisfactory completion of advanced study or training.

Experience

Over three years up to and including five years experience.

Supervision

Work requires the occasional direction of helpers, assistants, seasonal employees, interns, volunteers or temporary employees.

Human Collaboration Skills

Work may require providing advice to others outside direct reporting relationships on specific problems or general policies.  Contacts may require the consideration of different points of view to reach agreement.  Elements of persuasion may be necessary to gain cooperation and acceptance of ideas.

Freedom to Act

The employee normally performs the duty assignment according to his or her own judgment, requesting supervisory assistance only when necessary. Special projects are managed with little oversight and assignments may be reviewed upon completion. Performance reviewed periodically.

Technical Skills

Skilled: Work requires a comprehensive, practical knowledge of a technical field with use of analytical judgment and decision-making abilities appropriate to the work environment of the organization.

Budget Responsibility

Position has limited fiscal responsibility.  May assist in the collection of data in support of recommendations for departmental budget allocations.  May monitor division or program/project level budget and expenditures.

Reading

Advanced - Ability to read literature, books, reviews, scientific or technical journals, abstracts, financial reports, and/or legal documents.  Ordinarily, such education is obtained in at the college level or above. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study.

Math

Intermediate - Ability to deal with system of real numbers; practical application of fractions, percentages, ratios/proportions and measurement. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in high school up to college. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study.

Writing

Intermediate - Ability to write reports, prepare business letters, expositions, and summaries with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and grammar, using all parts of speech.  Ordinarily, such education is obtained in high school up to college. However, it may be obtained from experience and self-study.
