Title: IT GIS Analyst

 FLSA Status: Exempt

BRIEF DESCRIPTION:

The purpose of this position is to design, develop, program, test and install GIS applications for the city through a centralized IT Department.  This is accomplished by gathering user requirements, implementing and developing applications, testing and debugging, creating training documentation for users, deploying applications, maintaining data, interacting with users, and providing processes and applications to users.  Other duties include participating in seminars, training sessions and committees and representing the department to technical communities.

Manages GIS databases by posting reconciling and compressing data, managing and creating datasets and design, integrating databases and managing data server applications.

Develops and maintains GIS desktop applications by gathering user requirements, developing, testing and debugging applications, providing user training, and implementing user suggestions.

Manages and develops GIS client and server applications by managing existing applications, implementing changes and security processes and ensuring data and application access levels.

Assists in the development of processes and procedures by integrating existing systems, maintaining data, and integrating new systems.

Provides user support and training by training users and technicians on applications.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Formal Education

Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature which may be obtained with a two year associate's degree, diploma or equivalent from a college, technical, business, vocational, or correspondence school.  Appropriate certification may be awarded upon satisfactory completion of advanced study or training.

Experience

Over one year up to and including three years experience.

Supervision

Job has no responsibility for the direction or supervision of others.

Human Collaboration Skills

Work may require providing advice to others outside direct reporting relationships on specific problems or general policies.  Contacts may require the consideration of different points of view to reach agreement.  Elements of persuasion may be necessary to gain cooperation and acceptance of ideas.
