Title:
Facilities Maintenance Supervisor
FLSA Status: Exempt
BRIEF DESCRIPTION:
The purpose of this position is to
supervise the facilities maintenance section of the Public
Works Department and to manage contracted activities. This
is accomplished by supervising and scheduling tasks and
assignments, preparing and managing the budget, providing
technical assistance and overseeing purchases. Other duties
include purchasing and installing signage.

planning and supervising daily tasks and activities,
establishing procedures and guidelines, evaluating
assigned personnel, coaching for performance
improvement, approving purchases, and recommending
personnel actions. |

for approval, authorizing payments and monitoring

up audio-visual equipment, and coordinating with
departments, agencies and the public. |

REQUIREMENTS:

Formal Education |
Work requires knowledge of a
specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature
that may be obtained with six-months to one year of
advanced study or training past the high school
equivalency. Community college, vocational, business,
technical or correspondence schools are likely sources.
Appropriate certification may be awarded upon
satisfactory completion of advanced study or training. |

Experience |
Over three years up to and
including five years experience. |
|
Supervision |
Work requires functioning as a lead
worker performing essentially the same work as those
directed, and includes overseeing work quality,
training, instructing, and scheduling work. |
|
Human Collaboration Skills |
Work may require providing advice
to others outside direct reporting relationships on
specific problems or general policies. Contacts may
require the consideration of different points of view to
reach agreement. Elements of persuasion may be
necessary to gain cooperation and acceptance of ideas. |
|
Freedom to Act |
The employee normally performs the
job by following established standard operating
procedures and/or policies. There is a choice of the
appropriate procedure or policy to apply to duties.

Technical Skills |
Basic: Work requires the use of
standard technical skills appropriate to the work
environment of the organization. |

Budget Responsibility |
Position has limited fiscal
responsibility. May assist in the collection of data in
support of recommendations for departmental budget
allocations. May monitor division or program/project
level budget and expenditures. |

Reading |
Advanced - Ability to read
literature, books, reviews, scientific or technical
journals, abstracts, financial reports, and/or legal
documents. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in at
the college level or above. However, it may be obtained
from experience and self-study. |
|
Math |
Intermediate - Ability to deal with
system of real numbers; practical application of
fractions, percentages, ratios/proportions and
measurement. Ordinarily, such education is obtained in
high school up to college. However, it may be obtained
from experience and self-study. |

Writing |
Intermediate – Ability to write
reports, prepare business letters, expositions, and
summaries with proper format, punctuation, spelling, and
grammar, using all parts of speech. Ordinarily, such
education is obtained in high school up to college.
