FIRE CODE /
INSPECTIONS
Fire
Code/Inspections falls under the Community Services
Division, led by the Fire Marshal, and is often
referred to as the Fire Prevention Division. The name was
changed to more accurately describe the services we provide
to the community.
The Community
Services Division handles fire plans reviews, fire code and
inspection services to include both new and existing
businesses. They also provide fire permit reviews and issue
the permits for special events, tents and fire protection
contractors. The division is also responsible for the
investigation of fires to determine cause and origin and
works closely with the Police Department on suspicious or
arson related fires.
The Community
Services Division is the home of the Community Relations
Section which is responsible for community education
programs and the department’s media relations.
The members
of the Community Services Division are committed to ensuring
that everyone living in or visiting Peoria are safe while
here.
