83rd Avenue and Pinnacle Peak Road Intersection Improvements

Construction Progress
Construction of the Storm Drain will be underway starting the week of October 16, 2006.  Construction of the Waterline will begin starting October 30, 2006.

Traffic Construction Restrictions
Left turn lanes on 83rd Avenue (northbound and southbound) will be restricted.  Traffic wishing to turn should avoid the intersection.

Project Description
This project will address the increasing traffic volumes approaching the intersection of 83rd Avenue and Pinnacle Peak Road. The intersection will be widened to accommodate one through lane in each direction and a left turn lane, and a traffic signal will be installed. Other improvements include pavement markings, traffic signing, curb, gutter, sidewalk ramps, and street lighting. Construction of the intersection improvements will be coordinated with the construction of portions of the water and sewer lines planned for the same area so that all of these improvements are in place prior to signal installation. The Maricopa County Department of Transportation is the lead agency for the design of the improvements, while the City is responsible for construction.
