83rd Avenue & Thunderbird Road Intersection Improvements

The project will provide roadway widening to accommodate dual left turn lanes on the south leg of 83rd Avenue and a right turn only lane on westbound Thunderbird Road.

Union Hills Widening (Loop 101 to 84th Avenue)

Project consists of adding one lane on north side from Loop 101 to 84th Avenue, a separate right-turn lane on the bridge to 83rd Avenue and onto 83rd Avenue, as well as one lane 84th Avenue to 83rd Avenue, south side. Construction is scheduled to be completed by November 2005.

83rd Avenue Realignment

Mountain View Road to Peoria Avenue – The DCR has been finalized. The scope of work for design of the improvements is being prepared. Selection of the consultant has been delayed pending final decision related to Wal-Mart.

Lake Pleasant Parkway  (see map)

PHASE 2 – This section of the Parkway consists of 2 lanes from 95th Avenue and Williams Road, 4 lanes and a median on the Lake Pleasant Road re-alignment from Lake Pleasant Parkway to Rose Garden Lane. The design is in progress, and construction will begin by November 2005. 

PHASE 2A – This section will add two lanes on the east side between Deer Valley Road and Williams Road, and will be constructed with Phase 2.

PHASE 3 – The third phase of the Lake Pleasant Parkway constructed the eastside two lanes from Williams Road to Dynamite Boulevard, including an asphalt overlay on the existing Lake Pleasant Road from Dynamite to SR 74.  Haydon Building Corp has completed this phase of construction.  

PHASE 3A – This section will add two lanes between Williams Road and West Wing Parkway on the west side.  Haydon Building Corp is constructing this phase.  Completion is scheduled for September 2006.

Happy Valley Road

This project is between Lake Pleasant Road and 75th Avenue. Design Concept Report complete.  Phase 1 is in final design, and will construct the north half of the ultimate street section.  It will be striped for 1 lane in each direction plus bike lanes.  Design should be complete by October 2005, allowing to begin acquiring land for Right of Way in November 2005.

111th Avenue

The City has contracted with Visus Construction to improve the west half of 111th Avenue from Beardsley Road south to Union Hills Drive.  The Contractor is scheduled to start work by the middle of June, and will complete the project by December of this year.  The improvements consist of: widening the roadway to accommodate bicycles lanes in both directions, constructing curb, gutter, and sidewalk for the entire length, and installing landscaping.  A left turn lane will be added at Union Hills Drive, and a storm water detention basin will be constructed to prevent the flooding that occurs at this intersection.  The project will also replace the existing chain link fence on the west side of 111th Avenue with an 8-foot high block wall.  Portions of the roadway will be closed to all but emergency traffic for a large portion of the work.

Mobile Town Street and Alley Improvements  

Mobile Town is a subdivision that was platted in 1956 and is bounded by Loop 101, 91st Avenue , Scotland Avenue and Grand Avenue . The City of Peoria is planning to reconstruct the street and alleyways within the subdivision. See the attached exhibit showing the streets and alleys to be reconstructed. The project improvements include reconstructing the existing asphalt and base material, constructing ribbon curbs on the local streets, and sidewalk on the west side of 91st Avenue between Grand Avenue and Scotland Avenue and on the east side of 91st Avenue between Grand Avenue and Cameron Drive. Construction for this project is anticipated to commence in the fall of 2005.

Rose Garden Lane Drainage Channel ( Agua Fria River to Lake Pleasant Road)

The Rose Garden Lane drainage channel is under design, and scheduled to be constructed on the north side of Rose Garden Lane beginning summer of 2006.

Lake Pleasant Road Waterline

Construction is scheduled to begin in June through September 2005 on a 30" waterline on southbound Lake Pleasant Road from Beardsley to Rose Garden Lane. Traffic will be maintained with lane restrictions.

Old Town Peoria Pedestrian Enhancement Project

This is an Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) Federally funded project, and will include some funding participation by the City of Peoria.  The project is anticipated to begin construction in mid to late February 2006, and end in late July 2006.  The purpose of the project is to extend the current Old Town Peoria Downtown landscape theme onto Grand Avenue/Peoria Avenue and 83rd Avenue.  The improvements consist of constructing new decorative brick paver sidewalks, crosswalks, sidewalk ramps, pedestrian lighting and landscaping along Grand Avenue, from Peoria Avenue to 83rd Avenue.  The project will be constructed in phases to help minimize traffic disturbance along Grand Avenue, Peoria Avenue and 83rd Avenue.
