Vice Mayor Cathy Carlat
Cathy Carlat is a mother, wife, daughter, sister and friend, who proudly serves as the Councilmember representing the Mesquite District of the City of Peoria. Since taking office in January 2005, Councilmember Carlat has tirelessly advocated for the needs of northern Peoria.

Cathy has embraced her role as Mesquite’s Councilmember and Vice Mayor with a can-do attitude. Tackling such issues as long range planning, economic development and transportation, Vice Mayor Carlat’s work today will ensure that future generations living in Peoria will enjoy a quality of life only imagined in the dreams of the city’s founding families.

With a successful career in business, Vice Mayor Carlat has experience in management and demonstrates a comprehensive understanding of the issues and the effects of her decisions. As a District Manager for a Fortune 500 Company and Vice President of a real estate leasing firm, Vice Mayor Carlat has experience steering organizations to bright futures. As a former small business owner, Vice Mayor Carlat also understands the significance of providing customer service. She currently works in the Communications Department of Central Arizona Project managing special events and public relations.

Serving as the Chair of the Council Ad Hoc Recycling Subcommittee is a testament to her dedication to citizen service. After many residents contacted her wanting to see an improved recycling program, Vice Mayor Carlat urged the Mayor and her City Council colleagues to consider the possibility of forming a committee to study the issue. From visiting landfills and recycling facilities to asking the hard questions, Vice Mayor Carlat has taken an earnest approach to bringing the needs of the growing Mesquite District to the forefront.  Vice Mayor Carlat also currently serves as Chair of the Council Subcommittee of Boards and Commissions, which screens residents who are seeking appointments to volunteer positions that serve in an advisory capacity to city staff and the City Council.  Additionally, Vice Mayor Carlat serves as the council liaison to the Economic Development Advisory Board.

Vice Mayor Carlat serves the people of the Mesquite District with a passion for the future and the commitment to make that future a reality. She and her husband Dennis have two children Adam, 19 and Natalie, 12.
