As a native to the West Valley, Vicki Hunt was elected to City Council in 2003 representing the Acacia District. Councilmember Hunt retired as an educator, completing her award-winning career in the classroom at Peoria High School where she taught English. She is also a published writer and editor of educational materials. Councilwoman Hunt opened the Old Town Bed and Breakfast in the downtown area of Peoria after her retirement, and the business continues today. She earned her Bachelor’s Degree in English at Grand Canyon College, and subsequently graduated from Chapman University Summa Cum Laude with a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction. The councilmember also did advanced graduate work at Bread Loaf School of English in Vermont and Oxford University in England. Councilmember Hunt’s family includes three grown children and four beautiful grandchildren.

Commissioner, WESTMARC Enterprise Zone Commission; 2005 - Current
Alliance of 11 jurisdictions offers property tax reductions and/or corporate income tax credits to new and expanding businesses that increase job opportunities and business vitality to the Zone

Peoria Participation:
Board of Directors – Theater Works; 2003 - 2005
Oversees the building, operation, and administration of the community theater

Member, Peoria Historical Society; 1998 - Current
Volunteer organization whose mission it is to discover and preserve the history of the Peoria area and coordinate the operations of the Peoria Historical Museum.

Member, Peoria Women’s Club; 2001 - Current
Volunteer civic organization that hosts local celebrations and sponsors numerous community projects

President, Peoria Main Street Partnership; 2000 - 2003
Organization of downtown merchants works for the economic betterment of the downtown

Board of Directors – Friends of Peoria Public Library; 2002 - Current
Reviews and recommends enhancement of library services to the community

Member, Peoria Rotary Club; 2003 - Current
Organization of business and professional leaders that provides humanitarian service, encourages high ethical standards in all vocations, and helps build goodwill and peace

Co-Chair, Central Peoria Revitalization Ad Hoc Committee; 2001- 2003
Review, recommend and provide advice regarding matters pertaining to Central Peoria Revitalization activities

Graduate, City of Peoria’s Inaugural Leadership Institute; Spring 2002
Eight week interactive citizen outreach program that looks closely at the breadth of the operations of city government

Member, Not-For-Profit Funding Sub-Committee; 2004 - Present 
Reviews grant applications for money budgeted by the City that is set aside to be used for funding to not-for-profit agencies whose programs benefit the citizens of the City

Member, Boards and Commissions Sub-Committee; 2003 - Present
Reviews applications from residents seeking to serve on one of the cities many citizen advisory boards or committees

Council Liaison, Economic Development Advisory Board; 2004 - Present
Citizen board that advises the City on issues regarding business development and redevelopment
