Applications must be received in the Human Resources Office by close of business (5:00 p.m.) on the posted closing date. Applications received after this time will not be considered. Applications will be accepted for Police Recruit and Lateral Police Recruit on an on-going basis. Police Recruit applications will be retained on file for the next Police recruitment testing date or a maximum of 1 year. Lateral Police Officer applicants are required to submit an application along with the Sworn Background Packet for review. The purpose of this testing is to create a list of potential candidates for future vacancies in the Communications Section of the Police Department.
The following items are required for those individuals interested in applying for this testing:
*An Employment Application
(resume may be attached only as a supplement to the required employment application),
*A Preliminary Applicant Questionnaire
(click on link for questionnaire to display), and
*A Typing Certificate demonstrating the minimum typing requirement of 40 wpm (net speed). (Please follow the link: Typing Certification Information for a list of places to obtain an acceptable typing certificate. Online certificates are not acceptable)
Please note that applications submitted without all required materials will not be given further consideration.
Only those candidates whose qualifications best meet the city's requirements and needs will be invited to participate further. Those applicants selected to continue in the eligible list selection process will need to successfully pass a skills assessment, a pre-employment physical, a drug screen, polygraph exam, and a thorough background investigation.
