The City of Peoria implements a new eCitation System

 

The City of Peoria Municipal Court and the Police Department have partnered on a new citation system that will improve the efficiency and accuracy of citations issued by the Peoria Police Department. “eCitation” is a program where the officer carries a hand-held unit to complete the citation.  Learn more. 

 

Municipal Court Expansion Project Under Way

 

The Municipal Court Building is undgoing an $11 million expansion that will more than double the space available to the court and move the main entrance to the 83rd Avenue side of the building. Completion scheduled for February 2011. The court will remain open during the course of the expansion. Learn more

About the Peoria Municipal Court 

 

The mission of the Peoria Municipal Court is to ensure the prompt and fair adjudication of all cases and to maintain public confidence in the courts through transparency, accessibility, communication and education.

 

The Municipal Court handles criminal misdemeanors, traffic violations, city code

violations, injunctions prohibiting harassment and orders of protection.

 

It is located on the Peoria Municipal Campus at 8401 W. Monroe. Visitor parking is located off East Cinnabar Avenue on the upper level of the parking garage.

 

Court hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and court clerks are on duty to handle inquiries in person or by phone at 623-773-7400. If a clerk cannot resolve the concern, it may be possible to speak with a judge during “open court,” which is on Tuesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Most people who have received traffic tickets are scheduled for open court.
