Extended Hours to Serve You Better

Effective July 5, 2010

Monday through Thursday

7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Our commitment to better serve the community has resulted in extending our service hours.

In a citizen-satisfaction survey conducted in December 2009, 91 percent of respondents supported the idea of Peoria closing City Hall on Fridays but extending its hours from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Thursday– a concept known as 4/10s.

The expanded Monday through Thursday hours will enable residents to conduct business with the city in the early morning or early evening, outside of their own work hours.

On the municipal campus, buildings that will be closed on Fridays include: City Hall, the Municipal Court, the Development and Community Services Building, and the Information Technology Building. The Public Safety Administration Building lobby and the Library will remain open.

The Customer Service Center will adopt the new schedule. Customers will still be able to make credit card payments on-line at myaccount.peoriaaz.gov or by calling 623-773-7160. A drop box in front of City Hall is also available for check payments.

Resident Services

Courts – restraining orders will be referred to other nearby courts on Fridays.

Fire and Police – administrative offices will operate on the extended Monday through Thursday schedule; operations will continue to be available anytime by dialing 623-773-8311. As always, for emergencies dial 911. The lobby of the Public Safety Administration Building will also maintain the current schedule of 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., seven days a week.

Jobs – individuals interested in city jobs must apply online, as is currently required, by visiting www.peoriaaz.gov/jobs. Job postings will continue to have various closing dates. Additionally you may call the job hotline by dialing 623-773-7105.

Recreation Programs – to sign up for a program offered by the City’s Community Services Department, the public may go online to www.peoriaaz.gov/recreation if they have an existing account. New registrants may call or visit Rio Vista Recreation Center or Peoria Community Center. For additional information and services call 623-773-7137.

Streets – there will be limited Friday service for street maintenance, traffic signal maintenance, signs, striping, street improvements, storm drainage, sweepers, grading, street light repairs, and Adopt-A-Street program. You can contact the streets department by dialing 623-773-7432 or by sending an email to streetrepair@peoriaaz.gov.

Water bills – customers can view and pay their bills any time by visiting myaccount.peoriaaz.gov or calling 623-773-7160 to use the automated telephone system. Customers whose water service has been disconnected can pay using the automated telephone systems before 6 p.m. on Friday to be reconnected by 6 p.m. A limited number of field staff will be available for emergency connections on Fridays.

Business Services

Building and Site Development – Monday through Thursday, inspection staff will have the opportunity to re-inspect the same day that the correction notices are written due to the extended business hours.

Engineering – inspections will continue on Fridays. For inspection requests you can access our automated system by dialing 623-773-8445.

Fire Inspections – extended Monday through Thursday hours will allow staff to conduct inspections on businesses that do not open until later in the day, as well as the opportunity to conduct same day re-inspections where minor corrective action is necessary. Inspections during early morning hours will meet the needs of contractors and developers who start early, especially during the summer months.

Planning and Community Development – public hearings will now be held during extended business hours, Monday through Thursday, thereby assuring more staff availability to citizens.

Sales Tax – returns and payments will continue to be due on the last business day of the month. Customers can submit sales tax returns and pay sales tax with an electronic check anytime by visiting stars.peoriaaz.gov.
