WELCOME TO THE CITY OF PEORIA HIKING TRAILS PAGE.

Summer is quickly approaching and as the lush spring wildflowers have given way to the blossoming cactus, there are a few safety tips we want everyone to follow for an enjoyable mountain hiking experience.

A West Wing Mountain Hiking trailThe trail head for Sunrise and West Wing Mountain is currently in design and will be under construction later this year. In the interim, the West Wing Elementary School (26716 N. High Desert Dr.; Peoria, AZ 85383) will help serve as the trailhead and a point of connection to both mountain trails (see trails maps and parking information for details). The school cannot guarantee parking spaces will be available, especially during the normal hours of operation. You will have greater success finding space to park on weekends, holidays, and during the summer months when school is not in session. Please accept our temporary parking situation until we have constructed the neighborhood park and trailhead in 2009. We discourage persons from parking in the adjacent neighborhoods to access the West Wing and Sunrise Mountain Trails – please be courteous to the neighboring residents and use the school parking lot for your hiking experience.

The trail head for East Wing Mountain is at Sonoran Mountain Ranch Park (7098 W. Miner Trail; Peoria, AZ 85383 and it is located three miles north of Happy Valley Rd. on 67th Avenue).
