BEARDSLEY CONNECTION TO LOOP 101 (PW00152)
-
-
BEARDSLEY CONNECTION WILL BE FULLY OPEN MAY 7, 2011.
(See
flyer)
Project Description
The Beardsley Road Extension project will
provide additional access to the Loop 101 from the northern
portion of the City of Peoria and the northwest valley. This
will be accomplished by extending Beardsley Road, from 81st
Avenue across the New River, via a bridge to a one-way frontage
road, which starts at the 75th Avenue traffic interchange and
terminates at the Union Hills Drive interchange. A bridge over
Loop 101 north of Union Hills Drive will allow frontage road
traffic to access the northbound lanes of Loop 101 without
having to go through the signalized interchange at Union Hills
Drive.

Project Status
On
November 16, 2010, the Beardsley Connector opened to traffic, from
81st Avenue to the new frontage Road and from 75th
Avenue to Union Hills Drive. Additionally, the Union Hills
bridge over Loop 101 was opened with an additional lane of through
traffic in both directions. The project has completed
improvements to 83rd Avenue pavement, constructed the
median on 83rd Avenue, from Beardsley Road to Village
Parkway and widened the intersection of 83rd Avenue and
Beardsley.
The Beardsley Road and 81st
Avenue roundabout opened to local traffic on July 2, 2010.
All work was completed on or ahead of
schedule.
ADOT continues to work on the U-Turn
structure over Loop 101 and the southbound Beardsley/75th
Avenue on-ramp. Periodic nighttime closures and restrictions
are required and construction is anticipated to be completed in May
2011.
Advance notification of restrictions
and closures will be provided through message boards along Loop 101
and on arterial streets, prior to lane restrictions and closures.
Regular email alerts to subscribers of ADOT’s Loop 101 (Agua Fria
Freeway) mailing list, and on the Loop 101 Closures and Restrictions
section of the ADOT Website at
