Water Conservation–A Way of Life

Do you ever think about how much water you use every day, from when you brush your teeth in the morning to when you brush them again at night, and each use in between?  On average, in 2005 each Peoria citizen used approximately 155 gallons of water per day.  Can you imagine 155 one-gallon milk jugs?  A fun project might be to figure out how you stack up to this.  Your monthly water bill tells you how many thousands of gallons (KG) your household used this month.  Use the following formula to figure out how many gallons each person in your household used per day:

Investing In Rebates for Conservation

The City of Peoria offers three rebates (up to $680) to encourage a permanent reduction in water use inside and outside the home. Utilities customers may be eligible for a rebate for installing a hot water recirculator in their home, converting their high water use landscape to colorful, low water use Xeriscape, and installing a timer on their irrigation system. More information regarding these rebates can be found at conserve.peoriaaz.gov or by calling 623-773-7286. Once your utilities account information is verified, an official application will be sent to you by mail.
