Peoria Desert Fusion Garden

As a way to show our dedication to water conservation, the city has created the Desert Fusion Garden. The garden, located in front of City Hall at 8401 W. Monroe St., is a place to relax, learn, and gather ideas about landscape water conservation through the use of Xeriscape.

The garden was not designed to be a museum of plants. Instead, it shows how aesthetic plant groupings can be used to achieve certain looks in your landscape. Want a backyard that feels like a tropical oasis but doesn’t make you cringe at your water bill? The Tropical Oasis area of the garden is

just one of five themed areas that give garden visitors ideas on the kinds of landscapes they can create with a few low water use plants and some creativity.

In addition to providing a place to learn about what Xeriscape is, the garden is also meant to be a place to learn about what Xeriscape is not. The common misperception of Xeriscape is that it is nothing but rock and cacti. This is however very far from the truth. Xeriscape can be beautiful, colorful, and inviting. Please visit the Desert Fusion Garden for ideas on how to create your own Xeriscape.
