Peoria's Water System

The City of Peoria’s water system uses three diverse resources to help make sure water is always available for our residents. This water system map illustrates the city’s water sources and treatment facilities.

Drought Protection?

We are fortunate to have the benefit of three separate water supplies, which are described in detail by clicking the graphic to the right.

Of course, dry years like these are a visible reminder that we do live in the desert and that water is a precious resource that we all must conserve.

WATER FACTS:

  • 1% of the earth's water is non-frozen fresh water available for drinking, which is the equivalent of 1-tablespoon out of a 1-gallon jug.

  • About 6,800 gallons of water is required to grow a day's food for a family of four.

  • Peoria water customers used over 7-billion gallons of water in 2001.
