Wastewater Division
Industrial Users
The City of Peoria Industrial Users Program protects
the environment, collection system, treatment works, citizens, and employees of our
community. Monitoring, inspecting, and regulating discharges into the collection system is
necessary due to the potential for harmful effects from prohibited substances entering the
collection system.
Around the clock sampling of the actual discharges from businesses may
be performed to ensure compliance. A State of Arizona licensed lab performs analysis of
the samples.
An unlawful discharge could create explosive and/or toxic conditions
within the collection system or at the treatment facility. Severe damage could be done to
the collection system and other components. Some chemicals can also seriously impair the
biological process used to treat our wastewater at treatment facilities.
We all have a responsibility to properly dispose of unwanted chemicals
that are no longer needed. The City of Peoria holds special events several times per year
to help our citizens properly dispose of many chemicals such as waste oil, paint,
solvents, etc. If you need additional information or would like to check to see when
the next scheduled day is, please call 623-773-7441.
