CLERK HELD AT KNIFE POINT BY BRAZEN ARMED ROBBER

Wielding an 8-10 inch butcher knife, a suspect entered the Diamond Shamrock Gas Station at 83rd Avenue and Olive around 9:30p.m. Friday night (09/20/05). He approached the clerk, removed the knife from his pocket, and held it to the clerk’s chest and neck while removing the money from the open register.

The suspect then fled the store, got into a white, 1980’s model Oldsmobile, and left the area. He is described as a Hispanic male, 5’10” to 6’0” tall, weighing 170-190 pounds, with long black hair in a ponytail. He has a moustache and goatee. He was last seen wearing a black, button-up baseball jersey with the number “19” on the left breast area, grey pants, and brown sandals. Despite the suspect’s hostile actions, the clerk was not injured during the robbery.

This surveillance photo shows the suspect and the knife he used in the robbery.

Peoria Detectives are asking the public to call 623-773-7045 if they have any information about this incident or suspect. Police are trying to determine if this is related to a rash of armed robberies that have occurred in the area in the past several weeks, but have not yet confirmed a connection.
